Job Summary

The Cox Media Group (CMG) Local Solutions Sr. Specialist Tagging Operations is the expert in all channels of Campaign Manager and Ad Trafficking. This role is highly focused on facilitating the proper set up of Ad Trafficked campaigns and reporting of these campaigns. As a Senior Tagging Specialist, they will be the point of contact for general inquiries and relied upon for high level expertise. They will consistently monitor Ad Trafficked campaign’s performance and recommend adjustments to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

This individual must maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Campaign Manager (CM) platform and any updates to it, Google Tag Manager and its relation to CM, and all aspects of digital fulfillment product offerings. They will work with the Digital Campaign Manager (DCM) team and Digital Campaign Operations teams to ensure that trafficked campaigns, which encompass our top-tier clients, are superiorly executed.

The Sr. Specialist Tagging Operations will assist the DCM team and local markets with creation of new top tier campaigns, monitoring performance in CM reporting and making optimization recommendations. They will work jointly with the DCM team and the Cox Media Group Analytics team as a main partner, helping to identify underperforming CM campaigns through analyzing the data aggregated from CM Reporting & Attribution and recommend adjustments to increase client ROI. By maintaining a comprehensive understanding of CM and CMG products, the Sr. Specialist Tagging Operations will have the expertise to troubleshoot tagging issues and quickly resolve them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible and oversee all CM ad-tagged campaigns, processes, workflows, documentation, and updates to the CM platform
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for Google Campaign Manager related issues or questions, including trafficking issues
  • Analyze and evaluate campaigns through the CM platform in order to recommend appropriate adjustments to ensure client satisfaction and increase ROI
  • Evaluate new ways to share CM data with DCM team and Markets (including verification, viewability, path to conversion, time lag reporting, etc.)
  • Provide technical expertise to identify and resolve any issues with campaign tracking and CM tags, QA and/or reporting. This would include knowledge of both external & internal tag types, and identifying malfunctioning tags, ad creative, click-through URLs, etc.
  • Responsible for all CM trainings, across all departments and markets. Which includes, holding monthly new market personnel trainings on Premium Tag Management/Elite Attribution process by introducing CM SharePoint site
  • Work with product teams and Cox Analytics team to best facilitate ad trafficking for any new processes or solutions and update process documentation when needed
  • Perform daily audit of tag status listed on Campaign Planners­­
  • Attend monthly calls with the markets to share in-depth reporting produced from trafficked campaigns. Will also provide a la carte reporting to markets if requested
  • Produce tags for time sensitive campaigns that need a quick turnaround. Maxing out at 20% of tag creation a month.
  • Create all advertisers and campaigns in CM, which includes working with the Cox Programmatic and Search teams to create advertisers for Display & Video 360 and Search Ads 360
  • Maintain and build relationships with outside vendors, including but not limited to applicant tracking systems, 3rd party ad serving vendors and media vendors as well as internal team members
  • Serve as liaison between CMG and Trafficking Vendor
  • Manage GTM Premium Tag Tracker Document, filling in needed information for GTM work
  • Assist Sr Analyst in GTM work. This includes creation of GTM, implementation of Google Ads pixels, CM Floodlights, Facebook pixels, and other vendor pixels.
  • Create Google Analytics accounts and Google Analytics Goals
  • QA that GTM tags are firing properly and troubleshoot any issues if tags are not firing properly



What we look for


  • 5+ years of experience working in Digital Advertising
  • 3+ years of experience in Campaign Manager, formerly known as DoubleClick Campaign Manager
  • Knowledge of Google Marketing Platform which includes Display & Video 360, Search Ads 360, Ad Manager 360, & Google Tag Manager
  • Campaign Manager Certified
  • Google Analytics Certified
  • Ability to analyze CM Reporting & Attribution and formulate appropriate recommendations to improve client ROI
  • Familiarity in working with a variety of non-CM ad tags (i.e. IAS, Sizmek, Adobe, etc.)
  • Knowledge of digital marketing including SEM, social, content marketing, audience extension, programmatic, video, & display advertising
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen problem-solving skills - ability to proactively identify potential issues, troubleshoot and quickly resolve them
  • Self-starter, resourceful and excels at “getting things done”
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration
  • Demonstrate customer service skills with ability to build strong working relationships and consistently meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize assignments
  • Proven ability to learn and apply new concepts and tools quickly
  • BA/BS from a 4-year university or equivalent preferred
