Job Description

The Senior Manager - HR Technology has primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing HR technology in partnership with the Sr HR Operations Manager. The Sr Manager - HR Technology has expertise in several areas of HR Technology, while having deep understanding of HR processes and practices, involving business acquisitions, system configuration, designing system enhancements, managing upgrades, and supporting all people systems including: HRIS, Benefits, Compliance, Employee/Manager Self-Service, Recruiting, Onboarding, Compensation, Timekeeping, Payroll, Learning and Performance.  The Sr Manager – HR Technology utilizes necessary resources and skills to produce deliverables within agreed cost, timescale, and quality parameters.

Reporting to the Executive Director – Applications the Sr. .Manager -  HR Technology key stakeholders will be the People Solutions team. The Sr. Manager will work with the People Solutions team to leverage systems, processes and programs that enhance the employee experience. This role will architect our people technology and systems, while enabling process change, overseeing system governance, developing program roadmaps, implementing stakeholder engagement plans, and leading HR Technology program oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive thought leadership on best practices that enhance the overall employee experience through key people systems and operations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with critical partner groups (HRBPs, workforce solutions, total rewards, talent, recruitment, learning, payroll, finance, technology, etc.) to understand their needs, ensure alignment on objectives, and ensure ongoing buy-in across all people systems and program activities
  • Ensure solid and thorough requirements are documented, approved and communicated, holding key partners accountable for clear functional designs that minimize rework and extended timelines for unplanned development
  • Translate business objectives into solutions with clearly defined scope, timing, deliverables, resources, and key measures of success
  • Communicate actively with users and client groups about upcoming changes, product enhancements, etc. 
  • Organize work into manageable phases and determine an effective approach to completing activities that ensure overall success
  • Develop a plan that documents clear priorities among HR operations activities; develop estimates for effort, budget and schedule
  • Communicate a clear vision of each program’s objectives and lead through influence the teams needed to achieve goals
  • Act as a conduit between the HR and IT organizations, partnering with key IT and other business stakeholders to ensure that core HR systems feed critical people data through downstream integrations to business applications, vendors, etc.
  • Establish security protocols and ensure appropriate user access to HR data, systems and environments
  • Resolve issues that impact system implementations or enhancements in a timely, effective manner
  • Analyze risks and establish contingency plans; take responsibility for initiating mitigating actions
  • Collaborate with the Sr, HR Operations Manager in vendor relations and procurement related to HR operations and systems initiatives
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities to improve the efficiency and operations of the People Solutions function
  • Identify all stakeholders, both direct and indirect, and determine level of involvement needed for project success; effectively communicate relevant information to stakeholders and teams
  • Identify change management needs across the organization based on project impacts and be able to devise plan for communication, strategy and training as needed



Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
  • 7+ years of experience in related field; preferably HR Technology leadership experience
  • Progressive knowledge of cloud-based HR technology applications and solutions
  • Working experience in delivering programs and projects in Human Resources environment
  • Intermediate to advanced skills within the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project)
  • Ability to manage multiple critical priorities/projects with strong organizational skills including demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with different stakeholder sets; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing and executing project level change management plans
  • Working experience managing HR technology implementations and enhancements and working with technology project management methodologies. (e.g. waterfall, agile, iterative)
  • Experience leading end-to-end systems development/configuration for medium/large complex HR Technology implementations
  • Working experience of and competency in program management, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, change management and financial management
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to build relationships and interact with senior management
  • Ability to make decisions considering long-term implications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying high quality solutions and achieving expected results
  • Capable of anticipating and mitigating risks to the success of the programs / projects
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources systems, processes, trends, and best practices preferred
