WHBQ – FOX13, the FOX affiliate, Heroes and Icons digital tier channel and fox13memphis.com in Memphis, TN is seeking Sales Assistant to provide outstanding support to our Sales Department. The ideal candidate will report directly to Director of Sales and must have a positive winning attitude, be detailed oriented, have strong organizational, mathematical and reasoning ability. Experience in television/radio broadcasting and Wide Orbit traffic/WOMS is required. This candidate will develop and oversee a reporting process that meets the Director of Sales’ need to drive revenue streams, measure inventory, price the station, and sell special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the station’s Sales Philosophy and Strategy.
  • Enters order, traffic and accounting data using computers, ledgers, orders and other resources
  • Serve as the final double check of all media contracts prior to acceptance into the system.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Sales Department workflow processes, with an eye towards effectiveness, ensuring efficiency goals are being met, and monitoring the use of Reason Codes for preempts, credits, and adjustments.
  • Attend Statistical and Management Rate Card meetings.
  • Invest in Wide Orbit Traffic, Matrix Monarch, Wide Orbit Media Sales training.
  • Proficient in achieving the accuracy of rates, availability, date, program, and/or time.
  • Corresponds with customers and confers with coworkers to answer inquiries and resolve account problems
  • Prepares forms and reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred but will also consider experience; at least 2-4 years in television or other related media traffic or sales support environment desired.
  • Must be detail oriented with good organizational skills. Must be able to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales orders, written instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Wide Orbit Traffic/ Media Sales experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential
