Our reporter position will report directly to the News Director and closely partner with the Director of Branding & Programming, our morning and evening news hosts, to create, write, voice, and produce on-air and online content for the station.                                                                

Exceptional on-air presence, knowledge of tactical and strategic direction, relationship building with sources and newsmakers, planning, and technical and digital skills are required. You will join our industry-leading team covering breaking news, severe weather, and traffic, along with producing special long-form coverage on-air. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Preparing and executing live radio broadcasts live from location 
  • Strong track record of breaking news, including severe weather 
  • Building relationships with sources and newsmakers 
  • Independently driven, but also contributes to our team's culture 
  • Knowledge of newsroom automation software (NewsBoss) 
  • Knowledge of a radio talk clock  
  • Working with our radio automation system (WideOrbit)  
  • Digital production (Adobe Audition)  
  • Writing scripts for news and talk with unbiasedness  
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines 
  • The ability of being able to go in-depth during long-form coverage 
  • Being on call when news breaks outside of standard work hours (nights/overnights/weekends) – do you have your 'go bag' ready? 
  • History of adhering to a news radio station's ethos and research 
  • Ability to step in and assume an anchor role when needed 
  • Working in conjunction with all station on-air talent  
  • Social Media and CMS knowledge, with the ability to post stories promptly 
  • Working closely with the station's News Director to create and execute daily station assignments

  • Successful experience in reporting from past professional radio station experience (N/T format preferred).

  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Able to multi-task in a high-speed environment. 
  • High work standards and degree of attention to detail. 
  • High integrity and listener-focused. 
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays throughout the year. 
  • Strong computer, digital, and social media expertise.  
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and social media platforms. 
  • Understanding of Nielsen Audio Ratings 
  • MP3 aircheck will be required
