Job Description

The Part Time Air Talent position includes a mix of “live” and “pre-recorded” (tracked and live) air shifts to host the music format and deliver compelling on and off air content, key product details and promotions as prescribed.   This position also requires a fill in “on demand” element to cover air shifts for, but not limited to: sick leave absence of full-time air personalities, vacation schedule relief, special company holiday fill ins, and or emergency situations. (i.e. weather or other local emergencies etc.).  Additionally, fill-ins and regular part-time shifts can require station event attendance, promotions, sales remotes etc. as needed.  Individuals applying for this role should be a self-starter and possess an extremely strong work ethic with the ability to function in a team environment with ease.  You’re also a great story teller with a deep connection to the hip-hop lifestyle and possess a firm footing in the social media space with that audience.  Additionally, you are immersed in pop-culture and understand how to garner affinity for a brand.     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Live or voice tracked air shifts as scheduled by Supervisor.
  • Deliver a daily music mix for on-air music features
  • Attending station programming meetings, training and station staff meetings (as needed).
  • Be available for regularly scheduled air check review sessions
  • Occasional in-house commercial production and voice over assignments
  • Participate in station event appearances as scheduled to include: station concerts and community events, assisting programming and promotions staff with giveaway execution, hosting etc.
  • Miscellaneous other duties as required by supervisor.



Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:

  • You are a professional DJ.
  • Experience with broadcast automation software.
  • Experience with audio software editing products (Adobe Audition, etc.).
  • Requires excellent communication skills.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external customers.
  • MUST be social media savvy, and very comfortable engaging the audience in that space daily.
  • Well-rounded social media experience is a plus.

Experience and Education:

  • Four (4) year college degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year on-air radio experience.

Necessary Language Skills:

  • Able to communicate in English.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
