WPXI in Pittsburgh, PA is looking for a Meteorologist to join our growing team!

Responsibilities 

•  Responsible for actively keeping our viewers covered on television, online, social media and on our radio partners.
• Able to produce great graphics, understand how to tell viewers a clear weather story and work with a team that considers warning viewers about severe weather.
• Must be willing to become proficient on our current technology and stay up to date on television.
• Required to be a clear communicator and pass valuable information on to all shifts.
• Also must be able to put together reporter packages on weather stories for daily turns and for special weather coverage.

JOB DUTIES:

80% - Makes and presents forecasts – Represents the station in accurately presenting the forecast.  Ensures that it is available to our viewers on all platforms. 

20% - Serves as a weather reporter for daily turns and special coverage.

JOB TASKS

Makes and presents forecasts – 80%

• Makes and presents forecasts of on-air and on all mobile platforms.
• Also prepares and presents forecasts for our radio partners.
• Uses equipment and stays up to date on technology to deliver the most accurate forecasts
• A clear communicator to the viewer and to staff members on all shifts.
• Must be flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts.

 Weather reporter – 20%

• Responsible for pitching weather related stories for the all platforms.
• Must be able to work with a photographer on crafting those stories in a manner that is true to our brand and research.
• Ability to write and produce stories and present them live.
