Job Description

The Manager – Finance Technology has primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing Finance technology. He/She has expertise in several areas of Finance Technology, while having a deep understanding of Finance processes and practices, involving business acquisitions, system configuration, designing system enhancements, managing upgrades, and supporting all Finance systems including:

Procure to Pay, Accounts Receivable Management, Enterprise Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, and Tax.

He/She utilizes necessary resources and skills to produce deliverables within agreed cost, timescale, and quality parameters.   Reporting to the Executive Director – Applications, the Manager – Finance Technology acts as a single point of interface to the client, both internal and external. He/She must have experience with Financial implementations, SAAS based Cloud, network and/or systems upgrade projects, Data Warehousing, Internet and Intranet and be aware of emerging business technologies.   He/She will lead the architecting of solutions, implementation, and administration of the organization's Finance systems. Researches financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensures that systems are modified to meet these requirements. Establishes best practices for Finance systems use and ensures that these practices are used throughout the organization. Manages Finance systems analysts and trains departmental staff as needed. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. He/She ensures that program scope is in line with enterprise goals. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive the implementation and ongoing support of the new SAP S4/HANA ERP and Concur Expense platforms.

• Provide proactive thought leadership on best practices that enable effective Finance operations through key people and systems. 

• Establish and maintain relationships with critical partner groups (Finance and Technology) to understand their needs, ensure alignment on objectives, and ensure ongoing buy-in across all people systems and program activities

• Ensure solid and thorough requirements are documented, approved and communicated, holding key partners accountable for clear functional designs that minimize rework and extended timelines for unplanned development

• Translate business objectives into solutions with clearly defined scope, timing, deliverables, resources, and key measures of success

• Communicate actively with users and client groups about upcoming changes, product enhancements, etc.  

• Organize work into manageable phases and determine an effective approach to completing activities that ensure overall success

• Develop a plan that documents clear priorities among Finance operations activities; develop estimates for effort, budget and schedule

• Communicate a clear vision of each program’s objectives and lead through influence the teams needed to achieve goals

• Act as a conduit between the Finance and IT organizations, partnering with key IT and other business stakeholders to ensure that core Finance systems feed critical data through downstream integrations to business applications, vendors, etc.

• Collaborate with Information Security to establish security protocols and ensure appropriate user access to Finance data, systems and environments

• Resolve issues that impact system implementations or enhancements in a timely, effective manner

• Analyze risks and establish contingency plans; take responsibility for initiating mitigating actions 

• Manage vendor relationships and procurement related to Finance operations and systems initiatives

• Proactively identify process improvement opportunities to improve the efficiency and operations of Finance functions.

• Identify all stakeholders, both direct and indirect, and determine level of involvement needed for project success; effectively communicate relevant information to stakeholders and teams

• Identify change management needs across the organization based on project impacts and be able to devise plan for communication, strategy and training as needed

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education

• 7+ years of experience in related field; 

• 3 – 5 years of Finance Technology leadership experience  

• Progressive knowledge of SAP’s S4/HANA and Concur solutions

• Working experience in delivering programs and projects in Finance environment

• Intermediate to advanced skills within the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project)

• Ability to manage multiple critical priorities/projects with strong organizational skills including demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with different stakeholder sets; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment

• Experience developing and executing project level change management plans •Working experience managing Finance technology implementations and enhancements and working with technology project management methodologies. (e.g. waterfall, agile, iterative)

• Experience leading end-to-end systems development/configuration for medium/large complex Finance Technology implementations

• Working experience of and competency in program management, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, change management and financial management

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation and critical thinking skills

• Ability to build relationships and interact with senior management

• Ability to make decisions considering long-term implications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying highquality solutions and achieving expected results

• Capable of anticipating and mitigating risks to the success of the programs / projects

• Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands

• Working knowledge of Finance systems, processes, trends, and best practices preferred
