Job Summary

Cox Media Group Tampa seeks a Director of Top 40 Content and Program Director to lead Hot 101.5 (WPOI Top 40 Tampa Bay’s NEW Hit Music and Magic 94.9 Tampa Bay’s Best Music), the #1 CHR and #1 AC stations in Tampa Bay. The Hot 101.5/Magic 94.9 Director of Branding & Programming will be responsible for working with the strategic team to develop and execute strategy for the brand. The individual must have an intimate understanding of the Top 40 and AC/HAC life group and be able to design focused content to the audience’s evolving desires and habits.

This person will also provide consultation to our Top 40 formatted stations, helping the local team analyze Nielsen data and market research while staying connected to industry trends that keep our award-winning stations highly rated in their local markets. The Director of Top 40 Content will also be networked in the format to help CMG attract strong programming and on-air talent for openings in the company. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead a highly talented on-air staff; ability to coach on-air talent, including the ability to communicate the goals, structure, and execution of the station format.
  • Collaborate with strategic team to formulate and execute strategies. Will work closely with station’s Operations Director and company’s VP of Audience & Operations on execution of brand strategies.
  • Create and write compelling imaging that reflects the station’s strategic direction.
  • Hire and retain top-level full-time and part-time air talent.
  • Collaborate with the CMG Tampa’s Digital Content Lead on oversight of all station digital platforms, such as website content, social media, station app and e-mail database.
  • Collaborate with CMG Tampa’s Promotions Director on execution of contests, sweepstakes and creating effective high-profile promotional / marketing campaigns for the station.
  • Planning and oversight of station research.
  • Responsible for content & programming for one or more FM station operations 24/7/365.
  • Work closely with other CMG Tampa Program Directors to achieve market ratings share goals.

 

 

What we look for

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Minimum 5 years of programming management experience in a top 50 market with experience in CHR formats
  • Track record of success in PPM rated markets. Proficiency in interpreting ratings data.
  • Track record of PPM success with a content driven morning show.
  • Deep knowledge and proven history of creating scalable promotions / events that generate revenue.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills for audio delivery, automations systems, such as WideOrbit, Adobe Audition etc.
  • Extensive digital experience with station web sites, social media, and mobile.
  • On-air experience, and experience operating all on-air and production equipment.
  • Available as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
