Job Summary


Reporting to the Senior Director, HRBP (National Ad Platforms and Employment Practices), the Director, HRBP is a key member of the People Solutions management team.  He/she leads the development and implementation of progressive people and organizational programs that will transform the business and enable it for future growth and success.

This utility player will be regarded by the assigned client group(s) as a senior leader in people performance and strategies to help shape the culture of the organization while building a high-performance work environment.


  • Drive the creation, execution, and alignment of HR initiatives and plans as part of the overall business strategy to optimize the contribution of team members to the business needs.
  • Anticipate and respond to changing business needs and serve as a thought partner to the business.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to an HRBP to build internal people solutions capabilities and ensure long term success of the function and the business.
  • Influence lasting change in assigned businesses by serving as a change advocate on companywide strategies and initiatives.
  • Lead smooth organizational transitions using best practice change management methodologies.
  • Partner with leaders to design and create the organization that will deliver business success and enable it for future scaling and be a role model and coach Senior Leaders to make decisions in line with our management and leadership principles.
  • Use data, insights and storytelling to proactively challenge the established organizational design to drive superior performance.
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to recommend solutions and drive continuous improvement of strategic talent priorities, to include performance, retention, and the employee experience.
  • Be an insights-advocate that reviews external data and trends and provides relevant insight back into the business. Create winning solutions to keep the business ahead of the competition.
  • Work collaboratively with the people solutions senior leadership team (i.e total rewards, talent and communications) to optimize the effectiveness of the business. 
  • Build credibility with leaders by demonstrating an understanding of the business strategy and challenges, aligning short and long-term people goals with the strategy, and leading/driving initiatives to assist the business in achieving success.
  • Collaborate with and influence senior leaders to prioritize strategic people priorities and solutions that accelerate the achievement of business priorities through talent management, diversity and inclusion, rewards and recognition, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Create and shape the culture to align to CMG goals and initiatives through supporting and coaching Senior Leaders. Enable the business to be successful.
  • Develop and drive the employee engagement strategy to help make assigned client group(s) the very best place to work.
  • Be the cultural enabler for your business by leading and promoting a culture that is productive, open, empowering and equitable.
  • Resource the organization to enable current and future success. Lead the continuous improvement of the overall performance and talent management of the organization in line with the overall business strategy.
  • Develop and execute resourcing and talent strategy for market/business/function that ensures we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
  • Other duties as assigned.



What we look for


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 8+ years progressive experience in HR disciplines with a strategic focus or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience managing mid-level HR professionals
  • Experience with the media industry and familiarity with sales organizations preferred
  • Experience working with, coaching and influencing senior leaders to drive significant change in a dynamic industry
  • Proven experience in driving transformation in a growing, evolving organization
  • Leadership and exposure to all parts of the HR body of knowledge (HRBP/COE)
  • Success leading, coaching and developing people in a high performing team environment
  • Experience in successfully leading significant change and business transformation
  • Worked within a matrix organization; achieving results through effective influencing and collaboration
  • Unquestioned integrity with assertiveness, presence, and confidence. Excellent influencing skills at all levels in the organization and competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions
  • Demonstrated advanced client focus, judgment, analytical skills, critical thinking and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal) required
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and business analysis skills
  • Ability to bring new ideas and leverage HR expertise and operations knowledge to bring relevant solutions to business challenges
  • Must be a team player with a positive “Whatever it Takes” attitude
  • Analytical with the ability to evaluate complex data and make recommendations
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility to partner effectively with business leaders and colleagues to define and deliver effective processes, programs and tools that support the business goals
  • Forward thinking and has a continuous process improvement mindset; highly effective decision-­making and judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and confidence with executive leaders as a trusted advisor and confidante

Additional Qualifications

  • Previous experience successfully driving change in the media or highly disruptive industry
  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR or GPHR (preferred)
  • Consulting experience and/or experience with diverse portfolio management in a fast-paced environment
  • Sustained success leading, coaching and developing people in a high performing team environment
  • Success working within a matrix organization; achieving results through effective influencing and collaboration
  • Ability to travel 25%
