Job Summary

The Digital Marketing, Product Manager is responsible for managing the Local Solutions product lines across Search and Social.  Specifically, this role will be tasked with helping support Paid Search, SEO, Reputation Management and Business Listings as it pertains to our search solutions.  Within the Social space, this role will be responsible for the ongoing management and support of our social products, such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn as well as any future opportunities that we roll out. 

This role is responsible for ensuring that digital revenue across these product lines is sustained and grows into the future.  Additionally, this role is responsible for increasing the profitability of these products, as well as developing new products based on market requirements.  

The Digital Marketing, Product Manager will be a key member of the Local Solutions team at Cox Media Group, which supports the digital revenue efforts of all CMG properties, which include TV & Radio.  S/he will possess a deep understanding of specifics to Search and Social as well as emerging technology and trends.  The Digital Marketing, Product Manager will act as the key product champion internally and will have the ability to shepherd ideas from conception to implementation.  The Digital Marketing, Product Manager will be focused on internal and external marketing of CMG’s Search and Social solutions, as well as being charged with increasing both revenue and profitability of CMG’s Search and Social Product line.  This role will partner closely with the Operations and Analytics teams, as well as the Cox Media Group Technology and Finance teams. 

The ideal candidate will have exceptional business, communication and leadership skills. The Digital Marketing, Product Manager will collaborate with internal customers and third-party vendors to move the Search and Social Products through the product development lifecycle. The right candidate will have the ability to build strong relationships and effectively manage products and processes across multiple departments. S/he will assist with concept development, create high-level business requirements based on internal and external customer needs, build light business cases and project manage the process through the entire product management lifecycle and beyond. S/he will solicit feedback and quickly build consensus around decisions affecting the Search and Social product lines. S/he will also analyze and report product adoption to drive subsequent product strategies. 

Candidate should have the ability to perform this position from the location of one of CMG’s radio markets including Atlanta, Dayton, Tulsa, San Antonio, Houston, Tampa, Jacksonville, Long Island, Orlando, or Miami.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

  • Act as coach, advocate and champion for the Search and Social advertising products 
  • Facilitate identification and selection of Search and Social advertising products and services vendors 
  • Evaluate technologies and engage cross-functional resources to drive decisions regarding the Search and Social line of products 
  • Manage vendor relationships including monitoring SLAs, overall performance and quality of service 
  • Build monetization models for Search and Social line of products 
  • Evaluate strategies to maximize bottom line revenue and build efficiencies with Search and Social Products vendors and internal resources 
  • Build annual revenue / cost budgets both at a corporate level and at the local level through evaluation of client Search and Social Products opportunities by market 
  • Document and report on Search and Social product revenue, profitability and operational product metrics 
  • Conduct research, surveys, and field visits to understand requirements for target market segments 
  • Work with the Sales and Strategy team to identify and act on priorities 
  • Work with Search and Social Product vendors to convert market requirements into products that meet CMG standards 
  • Regularly review and re-evaluate competitive landscape comparing features, pricing, design and overall competitiveness; monitor share trends (competitors vs. CMG) 
  • Engage markets to collect Search and Social Product feedback including innovations and enhancements 
  • Drive the Search and Social Product roadmap with market demand, monetization and ROI in mind 
  • Regularly and systematically collect feedback from the markets on Search and Social Products performance 
  • Advocate on behalf of markets with selected vendors including issue resolution and product enhancement requests including feature ideas, product capabilities and new categories 
  • Identify, define, prioritize, and present solutions for CMG product opportunities, issues, defects and risks 
  • Develop / validate / maintain value proposition for products with markets 
  • Provide Search and Social Product marketing collateral and training materials 
  • Educate local sales teams on products in collaboration with in-field resources (Digital Specialist, Digital Campaign Manager) 
  • Provide ongoing support of market-level product training to achieve market-set targets 
  • Update materials and collateral as needed to accurately reflect the changed or updated features and benefits of the product line 
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for interface with local sales to ensure common understanding of product strategy, key features, and explanations 
  • Represent the voice of the customer (both field and advertiser) to CMG management 
  • Work with Digital Strategy Team to align and integrate Search and Social opportunities and M&A assets 
  • Build reputation as a Thought Leader within your industry by demonstrating product expertise, speaking at conferences, and publishing white papers and articles 

 

 

What we look for

WHAT YOU WILL BRING: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, computer sciences or related field 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the Digital Advertising space 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge with the overarching display landscape and digital advertising overall, including Display, Retargeting, Mobile, Social and Native. 
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with the display vendors. 
  • Familiarity with Small and Medium Size businesses / local digital advertising trends 
  • Solid business acumen with exceptional knowledge of marketing, sales, and development processes 
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills 
  • Knowledge of various technology development processes / methodologies required; knowledge of Agile development desired 
  • Demonstrated history of technology-based innovation and problem solving; high use of mobile and social media required 
  • Ability to articulate stakeholder needs and define / drive product requirements documentation throughout the development life cycle 
  • Ability to develop strong, working relationships across all CMG levels and deliver solid results 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated bias for customer service 
  • Ability to manage conflict, negotiations and stakeholder expectations 
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, rapidly changing, dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders and constituents 
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office 
  • 25% travel expected during steady state
