Job Summary

WFXT Boston 25 News is in search of a Content Creator who is eager to seek out unique local content and get it to our broadcast and digital platforms.  The successful candidate will be a member of our Content Center team, and must be able to own breaking news on digital and social platforms in a highly competitive market while having excellent news judgement. In addition, successful candidates must have an understanding of broadcast coverage & logistics and are expected to help generate story ideas.  Collaboration with others is a must for this position, and candidates should be open to feedback and have a desire to grow in their role.  Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a newsroom.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate and collaborate with newsroom staff in the station and in the field, and coordinate coverage during daily and breaking news events for all platforms
  • Creates new content, and post to digital, streaming, and social platforms.
  • Ability to write for broadcast and digital platforms is a must.
  • Coordinates streaming coverage of live news events and breaking news.
  • Work with other members of our Content Center team to confirm tips and information from public officials in a clear and professional manner.
  • Monitor scanners, social media, and station emails to flag breaking news, and come up with a plan to attack.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, and ability to communicate with the public
  • Other duties may be assigned, and must be able follow all company and station editorial policies and protocols.

 

 

 

What we look for

  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience in local TV news is preferred
  • Knowledge of content management systems
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University in Journalism or Communications preferred
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism
  • Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide-range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects
