Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Branding and Programming, the Assistant Director of branding and programming serves as the programming partner and midday talent.

The ideal candidate is well organized, self-motivated and an effective multi-tasker who has a high energy and passion for radio with a strong desire and passion for impacting several of our markets with their talents by being a multi-market personality via voice tracking. They possess great instincts and understanding of what drives engaging content, and they possess a competitive attitude that drives them to win. They are a great storyteller, understands the concept of forward momentum in a PPM world and are immersed in pop culture. They can easily connect with people on-air, in person and are proactive and innovative with social media and video content.  Individuals applying for this position must be able to relate to the South Florida culture, have the ability and work ethic to be a multi-market on air personality, be a team-player, ready to assist the Director of Branding Programming with the management of sales and promotional request, event execution as well as coaching of the on-air staff.

  • Hosts a daily LIVE Midday daypart (10am – 2pm) and 1 weekend shift TBD
  • Multi market superstar via voice tracking
  • Schedules and edits a daily music log
  • Assists Director of Branding & Programming with the coordination and execution of marketing, promotions, events, sales and branding campaigns.
  • Lead and manage the on-air team and provide effective guidance. Supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis.
  • Writes copy for on-air promos.
  • Works with the sales department to create exciting client-based promotions.
  • Partner with the Digital Department to manage our digital platforms and checks social media to ensure it remains consistent with station’s brand.
  • Is an ambassador for the radio station when out in public; maintains a positive and approachable attitude when around listeners and clients in accordance to our code of conduct.
  • Assists in preparation and management of department’s budget by overseeing expenditures and maintaining invoice records and related documentation.
  • Air check meetings with on-air talent.
  • Manages the on-air schedule, organizing vacations and other time off with staff.
  • Monitors programming activities in conformance with FCC rules and regulations, COX Media Group policy and applicable federal, state and local laws.



What we look for

  • A minimum of 2 years Program Director or Assistant Program Director experience.
  • On-air experience in a medium to large market.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver results against a work plan in a fast-paced environment, giving attention to detail even under high pressure situations
  • Flexible, creative, and innovative in using technology to deepen listener relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Additional Qualifications

  • An understanding of program log editing, along with knowledge of Music Master, Adobe Audition, ProTools Nielsen PPM tools, and VoxPro.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends as well as be available for possible disasters, breaking news, or acts of nature.
