95.5 WSB, one of the most successful and respected News & Talk radio brands in the country, is looking for an Assistant Program Director.

Assists the Director of Branding and Programming in executing the 95.5 WSB Programming and News Strategy to include managing and developing News & Talk Talent, Hosts, Producers, the Operations team, Imaging Producers, as well as coordinating strategic goals and input with the News Director, Manager of Traffic Operations, and Digital Content Lead.

This role requires a strong balance of strong people skills, initiative, creativity, and strategic and tactical command; it includes handling of assigned administrative duties, personnel management, coordination of schedules, and promotions (sales and marketing).

This role works with the WSB Radio Strategic Team, and coordinates with CMG Research for Nielsen Ratings Reports, Analysis, and Market research.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Involved in Operations and Production of Talk Programming, as assigned, to include directing weekend talk shows and WSB Depth Chart hosts. Involved in the coaching and direction for Weekday Shows.
  • Oversees the creation and production of WSB Imaging and Promos in line with the Strategic Plan for the brand and talk shows.
  • Involved in and directs much of the WSB Promotions/Sales/Programming process to aid in coordination and execution of sales, marketing and digital promotions. Strong relationship with Sales is critical to drive revenue to the radio station.
  • Interacts with our Digital Content Lead to help drive the social media and podcast strategy for the Talent, Talk Show Brands, News, Traffic, Weather, and Promotions.
  • Drives 95.5 WSB Community efforts, to include programming and outreach. This includes collaboration, coordination, and oversight of production and programming for our two annual events, Clark’s Christmas Kids and the WSB Care-A-Thon.
  • Responsible for the oversight of WSB programming and news personnel and other teams as assigned by the WSB Director of Branding and Programming.
  • Supervisory oversight of all full and part-time producers, board operators and call screeners for WSB.
  • Generates, organizes and oversees the Clocks/Formats for WSB Shows, for Traffic, Operations, Programming. Primary liasion to Engineering.

 

 

What we look for

  • Minimum 3 years experience in leading programming and/or news teams with track record of ratings and revenue success (PPM market experience preferred).
  • BS in Mass Communication, Journalism, or other 4-year degree program preferred.
  • Previous on-air experience preferred.
  • Experience coaching and developing talent.
  • Experience leading a News brand.
  • Strong understanding of national and local issues, to instinctively know how to leverage such content with our news and talk talent, and be able to quickly lead and direct the execution.
  • Excels in the operation of business, editing, automation, ratings, and news development software are essential.
  • Excels in strategies of digital distribution of content through social media, podcasting, and emerging platforms.
  • Proficiency interpreting ratings data.
